Keep the faith

“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.”
- 2 timothy 4:7

As a pastor, one of the greatest joys in life is to see those whom we have nurtured rise up and become great servants of God. Conversely, one of the greatest pain in life is when we see those we have nurtured backslide and turn away from God. Many young people begin their walk with much fire and enthusiasm. In their younger days, they would turn up in church every Saturday and Sunday to do all sorts of things. They would serve from cleaning to worship-leading. However, the sad thing is, when they graduate from school they think they also should graduate from church as well. Once they begin their career, money or their spouses takes over the place of God in their lives. The problem lies in fact that their realities, but we have a choice. As Christians, we are called not to be sprinters but distance runners. Our journey with Him is a long-haul affair. The reward is only given to those who have fought the good fight, have finished the race and have kept the faith. It is not how well you begin the race that earns you the price but how faithfully you end it!
